Notes on Kokyu Dosa

Relax.
Look beyond partner.
Reach beyond partner.
Focus energy through the pinky fingers.
Experiment with angling the thumbs slightly outward.
Shoulders down.
Maintain center.
Arch the back slightly.
Feel the wall, then move straight through it.
Work on endurance away from this exercise.
Practice, practice, practice.

    That’s the thing about Kokyu Dosa that I have the hardest time getting my students to learn and remember. I recently came up with a way of explaining it that seems to get the point across fairly well: “That thing that you keep trying to sneak around is the thing you need to connect with.”
