No Time For Laurels

I got my black belt and hakama tonight. It took me some time figuring out (with help) how to put it on and how to take it off and fold it. I seemed to move well for the first time wearing it.

Tonight, Sensei asked me if I would teach a class while she was gone.

Gulp.

Well, it’s a responsibility I knew I had to take. I’ll learn as I go along, and do my best.

  1. Teaching is a great way to increase depth of knowledge about the techniques you’ve learned. It’s also a lot of fun. Congrats, and enjoy!

  2. Congratulations! I’d love to see a picture of you wearing it. Do you actually wear it while aikido-ing? (What do you say for that? Practicing? Doing aikido?)

  3. The first word that came to my mind: Awesome!

  4. Ten Feet: very true. Teaching is learning in itself. I hope to make it fun!
    Ashy: thanks!
Sue: I call it “practicing aikido.” Yes, I will be wearing the belt and hakama (and the white uniform underneath) while practicing. I hope to get pics up very soon!

  5. Yay! Yoko in full black belt Aikido gear. Can’t wait to see it. You must look awesome. :-D
